Mind

Every moment of the day our brains are at work keeping us alive.

The Mind is a Powerful Mechanism in the Universe it provides us with the ability to see analyze and conceive the environment around us. Not only that we are able to adjust ourselves to our surroundings and sustain our life, but we are able to control our reality by controlling our thoughts.

What is Mind?

 

I admit I am not a psychologist or a psychiatrist but for many years I pondered the question if what is the mind. So for years I did extensive study on my own, I read books, looked at lectures and even had interviews with doctors because I wanted to know what this thing called mind really is and how do you use it for make my life better?

 

 When I was growing up I used to see this commercial that said “a mind is a terrible thing to waste” (American Negro College Fund) but I never understood the reasoning behind that commercial and although it talked about wasting your mind by not going to college to learn to enhance the mind I knew that was just a slogan and there was much more to wasting your mind than not going to college.

 

As I stated before many people have different definitions to the same word and many times when you use a word the meaning may get lost in the translation or the understand of the receiving person. The dictionary states the following about the mind:

 

The mind is a set of cognitive faculties including consciousness, perception, thinking, judgement, language and memory.  It is usually defined as the faculty of an entity’s thoughts and consciousness.[3] It holds the power of imagination, recognition, and appreciation, and is responsible for processing feelings and emotions, resulting in attitudes and actions.

 

Although the mind is housed in the physical brain the brain and the mind are not the same because you can see the brain but you cannot see the mind per se because it is invisible to the naked eye. However, the mind is can be observed by the thoughts of the individual. The mind can be affected by outside influences and even physical damage done to the brain as well. I used to hear people say things like “they have lost their mind” but in reality the person that they may be talking about still has a brain, so what do they mean when they say that they have lost their mind. The way that I have always understood that sentence is that the person has lost some level of reasoning or cognitive abilities to make safe choices in their life.  Usually if someone has done something bazaar or out of character to the extent that they do not behave in a rational manner means that something is going on inside of them that reveals that they have lost control of their minds ability to maintain rational thoughts. This may come in the form or defiance to authority, mental instability, irrational thoughts and behavior or self-destructive actions.

 

We all have a mind but many of us have not been told about the power of the mind or how to use it to overcome adversity and solve challenges. Many of us are just slaves to our minds and end up suffering because as are not able to direct our mind to maintain the thought patterns and habit that were need to thrive in this existence. In this section I will share with you some of my amazing finding about the power of the mind and how anyone can harness this power to make it do your bidding for you to accomplish anything that you want in this life. It all is in the power of your mind.

 

 

Everything that we think, say and do is a result of or state of mind. Our state of mind can be described as the way that we are thinking at any given moment. If we are in a peaceful state of mind then we tend to me calm and relaxed. If you notice that there are a lot of people that let their state of mind be determined by their environment.

People tend to thrive more when in a positive environment because of its positive affect on their state of mind. As human beings we can’t help but be affected by our surroundings and many times the things in our surroundings are beyond our control. So now a days it is important to have the ability to thrive regardless of your immediate environment especially if it is negative energy. In order to thrive and maintain focus in a dysfunctional environment it is necessary to change your state of mind.

Throughout the day we all go through a series of brain activity. All day we manifest this energy that helps us to think, reason and examine our decisions. Your state of mind is directly affected by your brainwave activity. Your state of mind is the most important tools that you have for your success. If you feel good you are able to make decisions and make a good impression on the world. If you are in a lousy state no matter how good your intentions you will not be very effective in expressing yourself.

You may not be able to change your outward environment however you can change your inner environment by changing your state of mind. You may live in a place that is not conducive to your growth but it should not keep you from growing. In order for you to grow you have to maintain a positive outlook on life and maintaining a high level of self-esteem and self-worth.  Nothing raises your self-worth and self-esteem like having a healthy thought life. Having the ability to control your own thoughts under any circumstances of a skill that becomes a gift to yourself and others. Controlling your state of mind b controlling your brainwave activity is the first step in your journey to self-empowerment.
